There are two SciQuip Laboratory Homogenizers. The Basic is a light weight handheld unit ideally suited to small volumes whereas the Pro is a powerful heavy duty unit with a large selection of stators for high volumes and viscosities and both can rapidly homogenize, disperse, and emulsify samples.

During operation, the suspended material is drawn into the core of the homogenizer by a rotor turning at up to 30,000rpm. The material is repeatedly cycled through narrow slits in the probe where it is rapidly sheared and disintegrated by high shear. Complete homogenization of the sample is usually achieved in a few seconds. Both units also have a soft start to avoid sample spillages.
